Real-Time Form, Made Visible

Spirit AR is a fitness headset designed to provide real-time visual feedback during exercise. The wearable product combines body tracking, transparent AR guidance and performance data to help users improve form and reduce injury risk.

Sixteen wide-angle cameras capture movement around the user, while AI-based body mapping interprets it in real time. Guidance appears directly in the field of view. A connected app stores performance data and supports feedback from coaches or therapists. Planbureau developed the concept, industrial design and user experience.

Training Without Feedback

Independent workouts give users flexibility, but remove much of the immediate feedback provided by a trainer. Without direct guidance, incorrect posture or repeated movement errors can remain unnoticed. This can reduce training effectiveness and increase injury risk.

The project focused on this missing feedback during exercise. The aim was to make movement analysis available while the user is still training. The brief therefore centred on a wearable system that could recognise movement and communicate useful corrections in real time.

Feedback While Moving

The headset needed to track full-body movement while remaining wearable and responsive during exercise. Camera placement had to provide sufficient coverage around the user. At the same time, the physical system had to remain stable and comfortable during movement.

Planbureau explored sensing, ergonomics and interface principles together. The team balanced camera coverage with headset proportions and wearability. Visual guidance also had to remain understandable without interrupting the exercise itself.

Guidance in Your Field of View

Spirit AR uses 16 HD wide-angle cameras and AI-based body mapping to analyse movement in real time. A transparent display places corrective guidance directly in the user’s field of view. Alerts can identify risky posture while the exercise is happening.

A rear halo integrates the batteries, speakers and touch controls. Adjustable straps support fit during movement. Connected software stores performance data and allows users to review progress with coaches or therapists.
