The Mushie Suction Spinner Ball is a suction-mounted sensory toy for young children. Spinning motion, soft silicone and a gentle rattle engage several senses at once. The category already existed, so the goal was to create a distinct product character.
Its form fits Mushie’s understated visual language. It attaches securely to smooth surfaces and is easy to grasp. Planbureau developed it from market research and concept work through prototypes to a manufacturable product.

Familiar Form, Little Identity
Suction-mounted spinner toys are an established product type. Their basic mechanism therefore offered little differentiation on its own. Many existing products use loud colours or a strongly technical appearance.
Mushie needed a calmer and more appealing alternative. The toy still had to be immediately understandable. The brief became a simple sensory object with a clear identity of its own.



Character Through Motion
Spinning, grasping and suction attachment had to work within one compact form. The separate parts also needed to read as a coherent object while moving.
Planbureau tested proportions, rounded details and colour relationships through prototypes. The geometry also had to suit efficient production. The product combines food-grade silicone with PP and ABS components. The aim was a safe, intuitive and manufacturable construction.



Play for Every Sense
The Suction Spinner Ball attaches to a high chair, table or other smooth surface. Children can grasp it, spin it and restart the movement repeatedly. Its soft surface adds touch, spinning adds visual stimulation, and the rattle adds sound.
Rounded forms make it easy for small hands to use. The play pattern supports grasping and fine motor activity. Its restrained appearance connects naturally with the wider Mushie product family.
