Endless Landscapes in Concrete
Logifaces is a three-dimensional logic game and decorative object made from triangular concrete pieces. The project began as an entry for a MOME design competition in 2013. It set out to open up the fixed logic of conventional puzzles.
One rule holds the system together: the surface must remain continuous. From this, almost endless landscapes can be built. Planbureau developed the concept from the original idea through prototypes and production engineering into a manufacturable product and an expanding family.

A Puzzle in Three Dimensions
Most puzzles use flat pieces and focus on finding one predetermined solution. Once completed, they leave little room for further experimentation. The brief therefore explored a more open form of logic game.
The rule had to remain easy to understand. At the same time, it needed to allow many different compositions. The aim was to create a system in which play would not end when a final image was found.

A Continuous, Open Surface
The challenge was to create a geometric system whose elements could connect in many different ways. Only one constraint remained: the surface had to stay continuous in every arrangement. The heights and slopes of the triangular pieces therefore had to work together precisely.
Planbureau tested and refined the geometry through prototypes. The logic of a flat puzzle had to be translated into three dimensions. A precise formal system was needed behind the simple rule.

One Rule, Endless Landscapes
Logifaces consists of triangular concrete pieces with different heights and slopes. When matching sides are connected, the blocks form a continuous terrain. There is no single correct final arrangement.
Users can create planes, ridges, valleys and abstract landscapes. The system works both as a logic game and an open-ended building set. Its material and geometric character also allow it to function as a decorative object when not in use.
