Workspaces Inside the Boxes

Goldberger Office is a loft workplace designed for an advertising agency in Budapest. The interior design occupies a former textile factory with generous ceiling height. Different work modes required clearly differentiated spatial settings.

We organised these functions into pods of varying sizes. The volumes create focused work areas and shared spaces within the continuous loft. Planbureau developed the concept, spatial organisation, detailing and visualisation of the project.

Many Work Modes, One Loft

The advertising agency combined different activities and levels of concentration. The large open loft offered little spatial separation on its own. Conventional partitions could easily have weakened the character of the industrial hall.

The client wanted a distinctive office that could still be realised within a controlled budget. Using the generous ceiling height was important. The brief became a clear internal structure that could support varied ways of working.

Abstract Form, Precise Detail

The strong spatial gesture of the pods had to remain consistent in every detail. Timber was considered first, but the client preferred a cleaner and more neutral appearance. The construction therefore needed to be lightweight, precise and cost-efficient.

Planbureau developed proportions, junctions and material transitions as one coherent system. Floor connections and glazing required particular attention. The budget remained an important constraint throughout the detailing process.

Floating White Pods

The completed office is built from steel-framed pods clad in painted plasterboard. Volumes of different sizes contain distinct functions within the loft. Recessed plinths make several pods appear to float above the polished concrete floor.

Glass is installed flush with the plasterboard, preserving the abstract reading of each volume. White surfaces contrast with the industrial shell. Construction followed the drawings closely, allowing the original concept to remain legible down to the details.
